Sunday

Thoughts I had today:

I sometimes get really down because I start to believe the little voice inside my head that is telling me that I don't do enough to serve others. I'd love to be the one that everyone calls when they are in a jam or need something and I can just do whatever they need. Make a dinner, give someone a ride, watch kids, whatever. But the truth is I just can't. I am never home for more than 2 hours at a time, I barely have time to feed my own family, and I'm home maybe 1 or 2 (tops) nights a week. Today, I realized that it's not as hard as it seems. I have 6 people really close to me that I can and do serve everyday. I am just at a place in my life where my husband and my children need my service just as much as others. I need to remember that all the little things I do to make their life more enjoyable is serving them. There is a time and a season in life and this is my time to serve my own family.

I registered Talie for preschool for the fall. Talie. My baby. She'll be 3 in May so will be able to do 2 years of preschool if I choose to actually send her this fall. This fall. It is beyond crazy to me that I am this close to having all my kids in school.

I am excited that the girls in my ward and I will be performing our "Don't Stop Believing" flash mob song and dance this week at the Stake Relief Society dinner. As fun as it is, I'm done with all of the late night practices. I'd rather be home putting my kids to bed and snuggling with Dan. It seems that we never get to see each other anymore.

I'm glad that Ty got to spend the weekend at my moms with his cousin, Dre. They had a great time and Grandma spoiled him. They went shopping, swimming, to the movies, out for lunch, snowboarding, and spent some fun time playing video games with Grandpa. We had Chelsey's friend Madison for the weekend and they played great the whole time. She's such a sweet girl, I'd keep her as my own anyday! We got to go to Hatch's for dinner and entertainment (and by entertainment I mean listening and watching their two-year-old daughter! She is such a funny girl!) It was fun to get to know their family better and the food was great!

I thoroughly enjoyed church today (as usual). I'm so thankful I get to go there every week. I notice a huge difference in my attitude when I don't go and I need all the help I can get to remind me that I can do this. everyday.

I have the same dilema....its SO hard to look around you and serve others when you have so much to do at home.
And I believe the same thing...there is a seasn for everything...and the service you give in your home is the best service that you could ever give. So, don't ever feel down about it...and will also be SUPER glad when the song/dance thing is over...its taking over my whole life! ha ha

i struggled with the serving part alot when i was in YW. it took all of me and i could barely serve my family when we needed it the most! lately when ever i need service for myself i serve others. me and the girls make the food together and deliver it together. i have always seemed to serve others when i need service. my way of getting it off my mind and i feel better about myself and my children see it at well

I totally agree on the service issue too. I feel so guilty because I KNOW there are those moments when I feel a little somethin somethin about someone and I don't do something about it. Why do I ignore those feelings? The more I ignore them the less they come and then I feel like I am missing something when I am not feeling them anymore.
I think this is a wake up call to start acting when I feel those moments. Thanks for the reminder!!! :)

andy .. i think it's obvious by now that most women totally relate to what you're feeling. but you're totally right, there's a time and a season. it's just tricky figuring out when your times are & what seasons you're in ... and then not forgetting what you've figured out.

and i totally wish i could be there to see your flash mob. so fun!
