one of the lucky ones

You can count me in as one of the lucky ones. I have this friend... best friend. She is one of those people who you feel like you can tell everything and ask her anything. Above all, her middle name should be "service". Tell me how many people you know that would get a babysitter for her kids, while she comes to help paint your house (and brings home-made pizza for dinner), how many people would pack and entirely move (seriously, the only thing she didn't move was the BIG stuff) a friend because she was pregnant, who brings care packages with toys and coloring books and fun stuff to the hospital to entertain your sick kids leaving her 6 week old baby with babysitter an hour away, helps to clean and organize my house when she's here just to hang out, all the while laughing and making me laugh, who does these things? A best friend. And I am lucky enough to have one. Yesterday she came for the day to help me sew my kids Christmas jammies. She brought her sewing machine, her pins, her scissors, her bias tape... everything we needed, rushed around to get a ride into Lethbridge with her mom, who drove her across town to my place. So you see, I really am one of the lucky ones who has a true friend. I can only hope to follow her example and give so selflessly of my time and resources. Thanks a bunch, Shaunie! I could not survive without you!
