turtle shell

I feel like I am slowly coming back. Slowly. Crawling out of the turtle shell that I've been hiding in for the last six months. Although it was numb, and dark and cold in there, I feel like I've been missing out. On my kids and my church calling, and Dan, and good times and well, myself. It hasn't really been a conscious thing, but I can feel it happening. Sometimes it makes me happy and sometimes it's completely terrifying, like I want to crawl out of my own skin to escape myself. I feel like I'm bald or naked. It's like there's this big part of me that's completely raw and I can't keep it bandaged up any more. I'm slowly renewing old routines. It's time. It's time to pull off the cover and start to heal. Slowly.
