Day 12 - Hands

I just happened to have this picture of little Natty's hands on my phone. One of the things I miss the most now that my kids are huge is the tiny little hands and toes. There is nothing like baby toes and even their little fingers. My baby is growing up way too fast and I am seeing all the usual changes that happen when they outgrow their toddlerhood. I just want her to stay just how she is!

I am also grateful for my own hands. For all of the many, many things they do everyday. All of the little things that I take for granted. My kids and I just talked about how blessed we are to have healthy, working bodies because there is a story in this months Friend about a boy who was born with no arms.

I am grateful that I can fold my hands in prayer. I'm grateful that I can hug my kids and my husband whenever I want to. I'm grateful that I can feel for a fever, or rub an owie away. I'm glad that I can hold hands. I'm grateful to be able to use my hands to help others. I'm so, so glad that I can use my hands to hold a newborn and smell their sweet new-baby smell. I'm glad that I can hold my kids when they are sad or scared.

I'm glad I can give my kids a thumbs up when they've done something great-- and I'm glad that is seems I've been able to do that a lot lately.
